Football Fridays Score with Alumni

The Wick Alumni Center was the place to be this fall on Fridays before Nebraska football home games. The association’s new event series, Football Fridays, attracted lively audiences made up of university staff and faculty, alumni and Husker fans visiting Lincoln for a game. In total, approximately 2,500 people attended the seven events, including alumni from California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington!

The most popular component of Football Fridays was the weekly game preview panel. Each week, former Huskers and local media offered insight into the 2009 team and answered audience questions. Kevin Sjuts, sports director at KOLN/KGIN (local CBS affiliate) served as the emcee.

Former Huskers who regularly served on the game preview panel included Matt Davison, Tommie Frazier and Steve Taylor. The association was also pleased to welcome Todd Peterson, Guy Rozier, Johnny Rodgers and Rod Smith to Football Friday events. In addition, the Nov. 6 Football Friday was preceded by a Heisman Legends event in which Nebraska Heisman Trophy winners (Rodgers, Mike Rozier and Eric Crouch) and Oklahoma Heisman winners (Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White) signed limited edition footballs and posters for fans.
