The RED Gala has raised more than $100,000 and awarded scholarships to 12 Nebraska high school graduates to assist them in realizing their educational dreams. Created through the combined efforts of the Nebraska Alumni Association, UNL administration, alumni and friends, the RED Gala provides additional scholarship dollars to keep the best and brightest in our state. At least 50 percent of the proceeds fund university scholarships for Omaha-area high school students, with the rest earmarked for other high-achieving students in Nebraska.
The 2008 event was held on Friday, January 18 at the Hilton Hotel in Omaha. Guests experienced a fine meal, presentation of the Founders' Medallion Award to Tom Osborne and awards to Omaha educators and business leaders who have been faithful supporters of UNL, and recognition of the RED Scholars for 2008. Guests had the opportunity to bid on a diverse selection of live and silent auction items to fund the RED Gala scholarships.
The format of the Red Gala is currently being reconsidered. If you have any questions or would be interested in serving on the planning committee, please contact Shelley Zaborowski.
